René Gutierrez Gonzalez
René Gutiérrez began his musical studies at the age of 8 in Villa Clara, Cuba and by the age of 12 he won his first Regional Violin Competition. At the age of 16 he moved to Havana to study in the National School of Arts where he graduated with honors and then moved on to admission exams for the Superior Institute of Arts where he was ranked 1st of all the country. In 2013 he was admitted in the Music Conservatory of Canary Islands in Mariana Abacioaie’s violin class, he complemented his musical studies in Turin where he studied with Christian Joseph Saccon, being recipient of the Erasmus+ scholarship and MAPFRE Guanarteme scholarship.
He has taken part in Master Classes with renowed violinists such as Robert Chen, Ilya Grubert, Michael Frischenschlager, Francesco Manara, Virgine Robilliard and worked with important musicians like Ronald Zollman, Valery Gergiev, Lorenzo Viotti, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Michal Nesterowicz and Zhong Xu. He has performed on festivals such as “Musicalia” Festival, Festival of Contemporary Music of Havana, “Musica alla Venaria Reale” in Turin and “ Serate musicali” in Turin.
Currently he is a member of the Joven Orquesta de Canarias (JOCAN) , where he holds the concertmaster position, with which he has toured the Canary Islands and China, performing in important venues such as Auditorio “Alfredo Kraus”, Shanghai Concert Hall among other. He is as well a Master of Music student at Prins Claus Conservatorium (Groningen) in the class of Ilona Sie Dhian Ho.
Further engagements include his solo debut with JOCAN under Víctor Pablo Pérez, performing Maurice Ravel’s “Tzigane”for violin and orchestra.
