Nata Tsvereli

Nata Tsvereli began her study at the Tbilisi State Conservatory with Prof. Nodar Gabunia in 1994. A year later she won the first prize at the Georgian Republic Piano Competition in Tbilisi and in 1996 was prize winner at the festival “Spring in Tbilisi”. In 1998 she was awarded the prestigious Shevardnadze scholarship and in the same year she won the first prize at the London International Piano Competition and the International Maria Yudina Competition, St. Petersburg. In the summer of 1998 she was prize winner at the Peter de Grote Festival in Groningen, and in December of that year she made her solo debut with the famous Philharmonic Orchestra of St. Petersburg in the main hall of the Philharmonie. She performed Chopin's second piano concerto and the third piano concerto of Rachmaninov with Jansug Kakhidze conducting. She has recorded both of these piano concertos for CD with the symphony orchestra of Tbilisi, with whom she regularly performs. In 1999 she graduated cum laude in Tbilisi, after which she continued her study with Nodar Gabunia receiving a further diploma cum laude in 2001. She began her masters degree at the Amsterdam Conservatorium in 2002 with Jan Wijn, graduating with distinction in 2004.
Nata was soloist in 2005 with the Noord Nederlands Orkest in the seldom heard “The age of anxiety”, Leonard Bernstein's only piano concerto, under the direction of Michel Tabachnik and in the same year she won the ING Bank Audience Prize. She gives many recitals and concerts in Georgia, the Netherlands, Turkey, Russia and England. In addition to her solo engagements she is part of a piano duo with Paul Komen and teaches piano at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen.
