Eloy Orzaiz Galarza is a pianist, harpsichordist and fortepianist specialized in the historical performance of the repertoire of the 17th, 18th and the first half of the 19th centuries.

He began his piano studies in Pamplona with Jan Maarten van der Mark and continued at the Musikene in San Sebastian under Miguel Ituarte. After graduating he was sponsored by the regional government of Navarra to move to the Netherlands and continue his musical education at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. There he studied with Paul Komen.

Eloy has received awards for his musicianship in the “Ciutat de Xativa” competition and in the Concurso Internacional de Ibiza. In 2010, he was granted the HSP-Excellence Programme by the Dutch government.

In the Netherlands Eloy made his first step into the field of early music by studying harpsichord with Johan Hofmann. After graduating cum laude in 2011, he moved to Switzerland to complete a master of harpsichord performance at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jesper Christensen and Jörg Andreas Bötticher. As continuo player, Eloy Orzaiz Galarza has been an official member of renowned ensembles such as the European Union Baroque Orchestra and Le Parlement de Musique.

Nowadays he lives in Basel and combines his performing career with the completion of a double master’s degree in fortepiano performance and pedagogy with Edoardo Torbianelli. Eloy Orzaiz teaches at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen (the Netherlands) and at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
