Szymon Marciniak

Born in Poland in 1983, Szymon Marciniak won many awards and prizes, amongst which the Vriendenkransconcours of the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. Since 2007 Szymon is solo double bass player at the Residentie Orkest in The Hague. He worked with conductors such as Heinrich Schiff, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Seiji Ozawa and toured through Europe as solo player and chamber musician. For the chamber opera 'Der Roman mit dem Kontrabass' (Jürg Baur, 2005) the composer wrote many lyrical and technical solos especially for Szymon.
Szymon is double bass teacher at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen.
