Ab Koster

Ab Koster studied horn at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and finished his studies with the "Prix d'Excellence". He continued his studies at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen (Germany) with Hermann Baumann. From 1977 until 1990 Ab was principal horn player at the NDR Symfonie Orkest in Hamburg. In 1990 he left the orchestra to focus on a career as solo player. He worked with many orchestras and great directors such as Frans Brüggen, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Ton Koopman, Bernhard Klee, Krzystof Penderecki and Günther Wand. Ab playes both the modern horn as well as the historical natural horn. Due to a number of collaborations and recordings together with many famous musicians Ab has a worldwide outstandig reputation.
