Aaron Berofsky
Aaron Berofsky studied at the Juilliard School of Music with Dorothy DeLay. Other important teachers have included Robert Mann, Felix Galimir, Glenn Dicterow, Lorand Fenyves and Elaine Richey. Mr. Berofsky has been the first violinist of the Chester String Quartet since 1992 which is considered as one of the country's best string quartets. As soloist with orchestras and chamber musician he has performed in the United States, Canada and Europe. His acclaimed recordings can be found on the Sony, Naxos, New Albion, ECM, Audio Ideas, Blue Griffin and Chesky labels. Mr. Berofsky has great knowledge of and experience in baroque as well as contemporary music. Aaron Berofsky is the concertmaster of the Ann Arbor Symphony. He has served as concertmaster for the Orkestra Sinfonica Bilbao, the Juilliard Orchestra and the Lansing Symphony as well. Mr. Berofsky is known for his commitment to teaching and is Professor of Violin at the University of Michigan and visiting Professor at the Hochschule fur Musik in Detmold, Germany. He is a popular teacher at festivals all over the world.
