M. Ravel - Chansons Madécasses
J. F. Brown - Songs of nature and farewell
A. Schönberg - Pierrot Lunaire

Ekaterina Levental (soprano), Ilona Timchenko (piano), Harro Ruijsenaars (cello), Thies Roorda (flute), Brigitte van Hagen (soprano), Juan Zurutuza (piano)

Pierrot Lunaire 2.0 combines romantic 19th cenruty poetry with modern music and interactive techniques. Projections interact with Ekaterina's performance in a theatrical staging by Chris Koolmees. Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire is considered to be a pivot point in modern music in the 20th century. In the first half of the concert Ravel's Chansons Madécasses will be performed, a piece of which Ravel claimed that it could not have been written without knowing Pierrot Lunaire. Songs of Nature and Farewell, a more modern composition by English composer James Francis Brown, is written for the same instruments as the Chansons Madécasses and is inspired by Ravels work. This way all works in this program refer to eachother.

Price concert: € 24,-
