Hendrik Werkman was probably the most internationally acclaimed artist of De Ploeg. In 1995 composer Gerard Ammerlaan and libretto writer Jo Willems composed an opera about Werkmans life and work. Especially for the Peter de Grote Festival a semi concertante version of the opera is produced for chamber music ensemble and vocalists. A narrator will read letters by Werkman which are linked to the opera fragments. An obtrusive (self)portrait of a rule breaking artist.
The concert is completed with two works by German composer which are also inspired by Werkman: “Werkman’s Window” en “Journey to Berlin”.

Price concert: € 24,-

This concert is a co-production with Stichting Aa and Soundsofmusic
