Will McLeish



William Mcleish began studying cello with Claude Starke in Zurich, and subsequently studied Bryan Epperson at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto. He is currently in the first year of his Master’s at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, where he is studying with Michel Strauss and Jan Ype Nota. He won the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2009, and performed the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with them the same year. In 2012, he won the Guleph Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, playing the Shostakovich Cello Concerto. In April of 2013, he performed the Rococo Variations with the Guelph Symphony Orchestra. In the summers of 2013 and 2014 he studied at the Aspen Music Festival with Richard Aaron, having received the orchestral fellowship. He attended the Orford Summer Music Academy for four years, where he studied with Laurence Lesser and Michel Strauss. He also attended Domaine Forget, where he studied with Steven Doane and Emanuelle Bertrand. He has participated in additional masterclasses from such cellists as Mischa Maisky, Desmond Hoebig, Colin Carr and Anner Bylsma.
