Viktor Chouchkov

The Bulgarian pianist and composer Viktor Chouchkov studied piano and composition at the Music Academy in Sofia and at the Santa Cecilia Conservatoire in Rome with a.o. Vincenzo Vitale and Guido Agosti. He was prizewinner at various piano competitions and won awards, f.i. for his film music. He also won the Musician of the Year 2000 Prize, awarded by the Bulgarian National Radio.
Chouchkov performed with orchestras and gave masterclasses all over the world (Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Brazil, Russia, the USA, Malaysia, Hong Kong a.o.). He has been a member and president of international juries.
As a composer Viktor Chouchkov is very prolific; he wrote a.o. an opera, symphony and chamber music, and music for films. His music has been much performed worldwide and appeared on various labels. “Every single cell of his body radiates music” said Ennio Morricone in a TV interview.
Victor Chouchkov is professor of chamber music and piano at the Music Academy in Sofia, and teaches at the National Film Academy. Between 1999 and 2005 he was President of the Union of Bulgarian Composers.
