Johan Hofmann

Johan Hofmann performed on concerts in most European countries and the United States with many well known musicians. As solo player he was invited to the Old Music Festival in Utrecht and in the Museum Vleeshuis in Antwerp. In 2008 he debuted as director in the successful production of Henry Purcells ‘Dido and Aeneas’. His first solo CD, which was presented in 2009, was very well received. With his ensemble ‘”Le Noveau Concert” he performed for the Flemish Opera, the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam, the Peter de Grote Festival and the Netwerk Oude Muziek. He will soon receive his Master of Music degree. In his research he is studying Ruckers ‘transposition harpsichord’, a replica Johan had made built in 2012. The reconstruction of this instrumentwas sponsored by corporate and private sponsors.

Johan teaches the international harpsichord-class at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where he also teaches basso continuo and chamber music. He also teaches at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam, harpsichord, basso continuo and the course ‘Harmony in practise’. Besides this Johan is guest teacher at the conservatoires of Arnhem, Enschede, Tilburg and Zwolle and gives many masterclasses, in The Netherlands, Italy. Latvia and Germany.
